In this video, we install a 19.1KW SolarEdge solar system with 44 x 435w Jinko Tiger Neo (all-black) solar panel modules, 44 x SolarEdge optimisers, 2 x 6KW SolarEdge Homewave inverters, a MyEnergi Zappi and a MyEnergi hot water solar diverter, and, of course, the mighty 13.5kWh Tesla Powerwall.
This was a stunning newly built home in the small village of Seamer, Stokesley, in the North Yorkshire countryside. This lovely customer contacted us because they were concerned about their high energy usage with their ground source heat pump, among other things. We recommended this fantastic system with the best components. We carried out this work over a few days just before Christmas 2023, and the installation is available in four episodes.
This video is a 7.2 KW solar installation in Darlington, with 10kWh of battery storage in Darlington.
The larger system required us to apply for pre-approval from Northern Powergrid, called a G99 application. This allows the customer to connect a more powerful system to the grid to generate and feed energy back into their network. We discuss this and more in the video!
This was a challenging but rewarding job. Not only did we have to contend with the great British weather, slippy tiles, and wind, but the house did not offer one obvious route for cabling and positioning of equipment.
We spent well over an hour debating upon routes during the survey but finally came up with a suitable solution. The end result looked fantastic, and we had a very happy customer. We installed 8 x 500W JA solar panels with bird protection, a 3.7KW FOX inverter, and 10kWh of FOX battery storage on this job.
We have installed many brands of EV chargers, with our favourite being the Myenergi Zappi. However, this was the first time installing this one. The customer had already purchased it, so we came along just to fit.
Overall, the charger was very straightforward to install; we had issues with connectivity, which we had to address but a decent charger overall.
Replacement of over 100 lights at Stoneacre Motor Group in Yarm.
Stoneacre approached us following an audit they had that determined their lighting lux levels were too low.
After carrying out our own expert lighting lux level test throughout the building we proposed an upgrade of all the old sodium & fluorescent lighting to LED. Not only did the new lighting increase the lux levels to well over the acceptable range, but also will reduce their energy costs drastically, as the old lighting was out-dated and demanded a lot of energy.
Throughout the entire building, including showroom, paint bays, workshop and body shop, we replace over 100 lights.
After the success of the indoor lighting, we were then tasked with upgrading the outside lights to LED.
Stoneacre were so pleased with the work carried out at their Yarm branch, they asked us to do the same at their Northallerton branch.
This involved replacing 12 high bay sodium lights in their workshop area with brand new Collingwood LED lights.
The lux levels were immediately improved significantly, and the coming months would show an improvement in energy savings.
We were called to a fault at The Nuthatch initially and found this to be a faulty RCBO in the consumer unit. This was subsequently replaced.
This lovely cocktail bar was also due it’s 5 yearly EICR (Electrical Installation Condition Report), and so this was carried out over the course of a full day whilst the venue was closed.
Some remedial work was identified and swiftly rectified to bring the installation up to the current BS7671 standards.
We carried out a 5 yearly EICR (Electrical Installation Condition Report) at The Townhouse in Middlesbrough. This is a very large venue with a total of 8 consumer units.
Several issues were identified; however, we soon had these rectified, and the installation was brought up to the current BS7671 standards.
This lovely local public house contacted us as they were experiencing their lights tripping in the male and female toilets.
We swiftly attended and identified the issue was a faulty leg of cable between two lights in the male toilets.
Due to the age and nature of the building it was not worth disturbing the decor to try and find the damaged cable. Instead, it was agreed we would replace it and run the cable in surface trunking in the toilets to avoid disruption and damage.
The job looked very neat and tidy and importantly the customers could now see where they were going!
Unfortunately, we were not going here for a nice massage but to carry out a 5 yearly EICR (Electrical Installation Condition Report).
We carried this work out during business closure hours to limit the impact on the business and customers and found the electrical installation to be in very good order. We left a happy customer with a 'satisfactory' report, good for another 5 years.
We were contacted by the surgery to install some replacement storage heaters that were more efficient than the existing heaters.
The old storage heaters were under performing and drawing too much electricity. The technology available with new storage heaters has far surpassed the older units and it was time for an upgrade.
Due to the nature of this building, we arranged a weekend installation date as to minimise the disruption to patients and staff.
We also carried out the 5 yearly EICR (Electrical Installation Condition Report) on the same weekend.
We carried out various projects throughout the 3 branches of M & B Rea Funeral Homes, located in Stokesley, Hutton Rudby and Darlington. Various work undertaken was to install new downlights, new electric heaters, and also carried out fault diagnosis.
We carried out extensive remedial works following an EICR that had ben carried out by another company. The client wished to instruct ourselves to carry out the remedial work, which we did over the course of a few weeks due to the sensitive nature of the building.
A 4.05kw solar array of 10 x 405w panels with 7.5kWh of battery storage was installed in Billingham.
We discussed our customer's requirements and current usage and worked closely with them to offer a system to meet their needs.

A 4.92kw solar array of 12 x 410w solar panels with 10kWh battery storage is installed in Kirlevington.
This house had its challenges regarding height, as it was a second-floor flat with minimal loft space. However, those challenges were swiftly overcome, and this customer ended up with a beautiful array of black mono panels that produced fantastic results. Another Myenergi Zappi EV charger installation. This was quite a long cable run, so we had to up-rate the cable to compensate for the voltage drop. This customer bought a stunning Audi car and needs an equally stunning charger.

We carry out many consumer unit upgrades every week, which never gets any less satisfying, significantly improving the safety of a homeowner's electrical installation.
This installation was no different. We managed to have this unit up and running by the end of the day with all the electrics fully tested, ensuring the homeowner that their installation was now safer.
This customer wanted to relocate their unit to a more suitable height and location. We also installed an EV charger and internal isolator as the customer requested the ability to isolate it from inside the property.
Every upgrade must include a full test of the existing cabling, which means you get an insight into the state of the cables and what is going on behind the walls and under the floors.

Sometimes we are called to quote for the installation of a particular system, in this case, a new EV charger, and we find the current electrical installation unsuitable to cater for it. This job was no exception and, in fact, required a full consumer unit upgrade before the charger could be installed.
This was a substantial property with 3-4 separate fuse boards, which we merged into one brand-new dual RCBO consumer unit with surge protection. We then installed a Myenergi Zappi on a 30-metre cable run from the new consumer unit around the property's outer wall to the charger location.
